Feb 25, 2025 : The proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) commemorated its 46th foundation day, extending greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of ‘Independence Demand Day’.
Acting President MM Ngouba honored martyrs and highlighted the RPF’s founding on February 25, 1979, with a mission to liberate Manipur. Emphasizing Marxist, Leninist, and Maoist ideologies, RPF criticized India’s alleged colonial rule and the Manipur Merger Agreement of 1949 as invalid, claiming it lacked consent and violated constitutional provisions.
RPF called for the Manipur King to declare the agreement null, urging support for their national liberation movement. They acknowledged solidarity from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and emphasized Manipur’s historical independence and ethnic diversity amid claims of Indian colonialism and ethnic dilution.
