FEB 3, 2026 (IMP): The BJP central leadership has given a nod and projected BJP MLA Yumnam Khemchand Singh (of Singjamei AC), the former Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, as “Legislature Party Leader” after a crucial meeting held at the BJP HQ office in New Delhi, attended by BJP National President Nitin Nabin, along with BJP NE Coordinator Dr Sambit Patra and state president A Sharda.
The BJP High Command is also likely to hold a meeting with its alliance partner to determine other key posts. However, it is yet to be confirmed and officially announced.
Following the announcement, celebrations erupted in the Singjamei locality, with party workers and residents expressing joy and support. The residence of MLA Khemchand has now been filled with his supporters.
While there is no official confirmation regarding his return, sources said Yumnam Khemchand is expected to arrive tomorrow, after which formal procedures are likely to follow.
