Road Safety Awareness Drive Held in Jiribam Under National Safety Month

The District Administration Jiribam organised a road safety awareness programme on January 21 at Irawat Square, Babupara, as part of the 37th National Road Safety Month. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Jiribam District Police and the District Transport Office.

The programme focused on promoting responsible road behaviour, particularly among two-wheeler riders. Helmets, along with pamphlets and stickers detailing road safety rules, were distributed to reinforce the importance of following traffic regulations. Officials highlighted that the primary objective of the campaign is to raise awareness among the general public and reduce road accidents through disciplined driving.

During the event, it was announced that the newly established District Transport Office in Jiribam will be formally inaugurated on January 22. Updates were also shared on infrastructure development in the district, including the near completion of the expansion work on National Highway 37 and the construction of various roads and inter-village connectivity projects.

The district administration appealed to residents to strictly follow traffic guidelines for the safety of all road users and cautioned that penalties would be imposed on those violating road safety norms. The programme was attended by senior district officials, police officers, transport department representatives, and media personnel.
