Imphal, Jan 31: A significant step toward improving road safety was announced during an interactive road safety and traffic awareness program held at the Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM), Lamphel.
Traffic Control Police Wing’s SP Pramesh Arambam revealed that a Rs. 10,000 fine is now being issued to individuals caught driving under the influence of alcohol, signaling stricter enforcement of traffic laws.
The event, aimed at promoting awareness of traffic rules and safe driving practices, was attended by key officials, including ICM Imphal’s Director Khoichung Rangamlian Aimol and Saratchandra Ayekpam, SPOC, PMKVY (4.0).
SP Pramesh Arambam addressed the attendees, stressing the critical importance of following traffic regulations for the safety of all road users. He specifically appealed to the public to abstain from drinking and driving, highlighting the risks of accidents and fatalities associated with impaired driving.
The SP also discussed the issue of modifying motorcycle silencer pipes and urged the public to adopt responsible driving habits for a safer community.
The program concluded with a call for greater civic responsibility in ensuring road safety and promoting disciplined driving behavior across the region.
