March 4, 2025: In a significant operation against the drug cartel, Assam Rifles successfully apprehended a suspected drug dealer and seized a large cache of illegal drugs in Thingkangphai Village, Churachandpur District, Manipur.
Acting on specific intelligence about the presence of a drug ring in the area, Assam Rifles launched the operation under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South).
Late that evening, Assam Rifles personnel intercepted a white Mahindra Bolero vehicle, driven by one Thangsuanman, aged 44 years, from M. Tanglian Village, who was allegedly attempting to finalize a drug deal.
Upon searching the vehicle, approximately 1,518 grams of suspected Heroin No. 4, neatly packed in 132 soap cases, was discovered. The total value of the seized drugs is estimated to be around Rs. 15.4 Crore.
The arrested individual, along with the vehicle and seized drugs, was handed over to the Churachandpur Police Station for further investigation.
