In a disclosure today, the RPI (A) Manipur Vice President, Sapamcha Kangleipal, unveiled startling findings through an RTI application, exposing the non-recognition of “Gwaltabi Kuki Village” by the Manipur Government’s Tribal Affairs and Hills Department.
The response clarified that there is no official record or recognition of the village under the department’s purview.
Addressing media representatives at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal, Kangleipal highlighted the RTI’s findings, which revealed that the village has not been included in any recognized hill village lists for various administrative purposes such as village authority recognition, hill house tax, rural development programs, or socio-economic surveys.
In the RTI reply, the Deputy Secretary of Tribal Affairs and Hills, Dr. B.A. Ransing, affirmed in the RTI response that no correspondence or documents have been exchanged regarding claims to represent the “Gwaltabi Kuki Village Authority.”
The query also yielded no records of involvement by government officials in processing or recommending recognition for the village.
