March 15, 2025 : Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the District Sports Association (DSA) Chandel, Wisecrabs, Lakshya Academy, REACHA Foundation, Chandel District Administration, Chandel Police, and the Medical Department, successfully organized the 4th edition of the ‘Run Chandel Run’ Marathon. The event, held under the motto “Chandel Runs for Peace and Unity,” aimed to promote fitness, health, and peaceful coexistence among the local populace.
A total of 800 enthusiastic runners participated in the marathon, racing through the scenic trails of Chandel. The event was divided into four categories: Below 16 Years (Boys and Girls), Open Category (Men and Women), Above 45 Years Dream Run, and the 12 Km Open Category Cross Country.
The marathon was flagged off by the Deputy Inspector General of Assam Rifles, who emphasized the importance of sports in bringing people together and encouraged everyone to adopt physical activity as a part of their daily routine. Participants included students, athletes, personnel from Assam Rifles, Chandel Police, Manipur Rifles, and local fitness enthusiasts. Senior officers, including the DIG and Assam Rifles Commandant, also took part in the race, further motivating the participants.
The event concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony where local talents showcased their skills. Assam Rifles reaffirmed its commitment to fostering unity and encouraging a healthy lifestyle among the citizens of Manipur through such sporting initiatives.
