SAFF U-19 Heroes Shami & Arbash Return to Manipur; MVP Arbash Gets Quiet Welcome

Manipur’s football stars, India U-19 captain Shami Singamayum and Most Valuable Player (MVP) Md Arbash, returned home on Monday after leading India to victory in the SAFF U-19 Championship 2025. India clinched the title with a 4-3 penalty win over Bangladesh after a 1-1 draw in the final.

The two players arrived at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal, to a modest welcome from local supporters, youth leaders, and members of the Meitei-Pangal community. The reception remained low-key, with limited media presence, possibly due to short notice or lack of coordination from families.

As of now, it is not confirmed how many Manipur-based players have returned. According to sources, only Shami and Md Arbash were seen arriving. Further updates will be provided once more information becomes available.

“We warmly welcome our young football talents at Imphal International Airport in honor of their victory at the SAFF U-19 Championship 2025,” said one local supporter.

The United Meitei-Pangal Committee (UMPC) congratulated Md Arbash for earning the MVP title, calling it a proud milestone for the community. Both players’ achievements have sparked widespread pride and serve as inspiration to Manipur’s budding footballers.
