Suspense continues to run high in Manipur political circles after BJP National Spokesperson and NE in-charge Sambit Patra, who arrived in Imphal this morning, met at least 18 legislators (of the ruling party) from the state, including Ex-Manipur CM N. Biren Singh, at five different locations so far in a day.
The legislators who have met the BJP leader have not divulged many details about the meeting agenda; however, they cited that the meeting is on the restoration of peace and normalcy. Many, however, speculated that the meetings may be for the initiation of internal consensus building for the installation of a popular government.
BJP MP Dr. Sambit, after his arrival in Imphal, landed in Churachandpur and held meetings with two Kuki MLAs — LM Kaute and Thanglon AC MLA Vungzagin Valte. Upon returning to Imphal, Dr. Sambit also met Ex-Manipur CM N. Biren Singh at his residence in Luwangshangbam.
Later, he drove to the residence of Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th. Satyabrata Singh at Bheigyabati Leikai in Imphal East and held a closed-door meeting accompanied by NPP MLA Noorul Hassan, and later met MLA Yumnam Khemchand.
After returning from these places, at Hotel Imphal, Dr. Sambit Patra also held short meetings with 12 other MLAs separately, namely Kashi Vashum, Losii Dikho, Awangbow Newmai, Leishiyo Keishing, Kh. Ibomcha, Karam Shyam, Sapam Keba, L. Susindro, Th. Shyamkumar, Dipu Gangmei, and Premchandra. MLAs Kh. Ibomcha, Karam Shyam, Sapam Keba, L. Susindro, and Premchandra left after their meetings.
