The 10th death anniversary of Sapam Robinhood (Thoi) was observed on Wednesday at MMRC & Unity Park, Khangabok, Thoubal district, with a blood donation camp held in his memory. Robinhood is remembered for his sacrifice in the people’s movement demanding the enforcement of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in Manipur.
The programme was organized by the Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF) Thoubal District Committee and the Association of Voluntary Blood Donors (AVBD) Manipur, Thoubal District Branch, in partnership with the Blood Centre & Transfusion Unit, District Hospital Thoubal, Khangabok.
The event was attended by Dr. Robindro Singh (IHBT), BC&TU DH Thoubal as chief guest, while Dr. Kh. Romenkumar Mangang, Principal of KM Blooming Higher Secondary School, Khangabok, served as president. E. Nityai Singh, Proprietor of Shiroy Ngari Khangabok, and Nabakumar TC, Secretary of AVBD Thoubal District Branch, joined as guests of honour.
In his speech, Dr. S. Robindro Singh underscored the humanitarian value of blood donation and encouraged more citizens to participate in such initiatives. A total of 28 people were screened, with 25 donors, including two women, successfully giving blood. Among them was E. Nityai Singh, one of the dignitaries present.
The observance also included a session recounting the life and contributions of Sapam Robinhood, followed by floral tributes at his statue inside the park. Attendees, including students, teachers, family members, local clubs, and community organizations, observed a two-minute silence in his honour.
Presidium members of the function included Dr. Kh. Romenkumar Mangang, RK Ongbi Kanan Devi, Y. Momon Devi, S. Romesh Meetei, Nabakumar TC, and Kh. Naresh Singh, President of MSF Thoubal District Committee.
