Jan 31, 2026 (IMP): The ‘Save Manipur Rally’, led by COCOMI, adopted an eight-point resolution during a public meeting held at THAU Ground in Imphal on Saturday.
The resolution, announced publicly by COCOMI Convener Y. K. Dhiren, includes the immediate abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO). It also stated that the Government of India (GoI) should stop giving a free hand to Kuki militants in the name of SoO, stop propagating the narrative of the current issue as an ethnic conflict, and respect and deliver the rights of the people.
The resolution further stated that the Government should evolve a specific policy for IDPs and ensure their return within a specific timeframe. It stressed that IDPs should be treated with compassion and ensured protection. It also called on the Government to deliver the constitutional rights granted to the people and reinstate transparent and accountable governance at the earliest.
It further stated that the Government should carry out an NRC exercise or a similar mechanism to deport illegal immigrants who have entered the state. The Government should also safeguard the administrative and territorial integrity of Manipur and respect and honour the democratic rights and mandate of the people.
Another resolution included the deportation of illegal immigrants who have entered the state and a call to stop cross-border terror activities of “Kuki-Chin narco-terrorists.” It also urged the Government to dismantle illegal structures and illegal infrastructure used by them.
The ‘Save Manipur Rally’, which took off from Tiddim Ground in Imphal West, was joined by a sea of people from all walks of life and communities and concluded at THAU Ground with a public meeting in Thangmeiband near the State Assembly complex.
