Security personnel today foiled an attempt by women activists of Imagi Meira to knock at the doors of Raj Bhavan, after the group was unable to get an appointment with the Governor despite prior permission.
Led by its president, Thokchom Sujata Devi, the organisation had sought an urgent meeting with the Governor to express outrage over the removal of the “Manipur” signage at Gwaltabi by the Maha Regiment and to demand free and safe passage for the Meitei community along the national highway.
Receiving no response, the women attempted to press their demand symbolically at the main gate but were dispersed by security forces stationed around Raj Bhavan in Imphal.
