In a series of targeted operations, security forces in Manipur arrested three active cadres affiliated with different proscribed militant groups over the past two days.
On April 21, an active member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) [KCP (PWG)] was arrested from the Wangoo Sadankhong area under Wangoo Police Station in Kakching District. The arrested individual has been identified as Sorokhaibam Malemnganba Singh alias Ori of Wangjing Lamding Cherapur Thounaojam Leikai, Thoubal District.
Continuing the crackdown, two more individuals associated with banned outfits were apprehended on April 22. Laishram Nongdamba Singh alias Lanleiba (25), an active cadre of the KYKL (SOREPA), was arrested from Hiyangthang Makha Leikai under Wangoi Police Station, Imphal West District. A mobile phone was seized from his possession during the operation.
In a separate action, Wangkhairakpam Nandi Singh (42), an active member of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), was arrested from Napet Palli Thongkong, near the DGR Velocity KSK oil pump, under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East District. He is a resident of Lousangkhong Makha Leikai in the same district.
Authorities have confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain further details of their activities and affiliations.
