In a continued effort to curb extortion and other criminal activities across the state, security forces have intensified intelligence-based combing operations along with cordon-and-search missions in various areas. These coordinated operations aim to identify and apprehend individuals involved in unlawful activities, thereby enhancing public safety and restoring normalcy.
As part of these extensive operations, on 10 August 2025, security personnel successfully arrested an active cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (City Meitei faction), identified as Mathurabasimayum Arnold Sharma, aged 21. The arrest took place at his residence located in Sagolband Tera Moirang Hanuba Leirak, under the jurisdiction of Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West district.
The detained individual is reportedly involved in several criminal cases, including extortion and other illegal activities that have disturbed peace in the region. Authorities are currently interrogating Sharma to gather further intelligence on the group’s operations and to identify other members associated with these unlawful acts.
Officials have reaffirmed their commitment to conducting thorough security measures and have urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing any information that could aid in rooting out criminal elements.
