Security Forces Destroy 35 Acres of Illicit Poppy Cultivation in Ukhrul and Kangpokpi

In a continued crackdown against illegal poppy cultivation in the hill districts of Manipur, security forces along with the Forest Department carried out separate destruction drives yesterday, eliminating approximately 35 acres of illicit poppy plantations in Ukhrul and Kangpokpi districts.

According to sources, security forces and officials of the Forest Department destroyed around 25 acres of poppy plantation at the Sinakeithei area under Litan Police Station in Ukhrul district during the operation.

In another operation conducted the same day, security forces, in coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Forest Department, destroyed approximately 10 acres of poppy cultivation at multiple locations between Tingpibung village and Leplen village under Saikul Police Station in Kangpokpi district.
