Jan 26, 2025: Ahead of Republic Day, Manipur Police arrested two active members of the proscribed PREPAK (Progressive) on Saturday, identified as Sairem Rishikumar Singh alias Pathou (24) and Longjam Nganthoiba Meitei alias Achouba alias Lamngakpa (22), from Langol Type II under Lamphel Police Station, Imphal West District.
Police stated that the arrested individuals were involved in extortion activities in the Imphal and Thoubal areas. Items recovered from their possession included six mobile handsets, two .32 pistols along with two magazines, five .32 live rounds, parts of a pistol, five demand letters, and one four-wheeler.
Meanwhile, in Churachandpur, Security Forces also arrested two cadres of the UKRA (SoO group), identified as Thangrengsong Kom (45) and L. Washington Kom (42). They were reportedly involved in extortion activities targeting ex-servicemen from Maunjang Village, New Dampi, under Churachandpur Police Station, Churachandpur District.
Police recovered two mobile phones, one wallet, and one catapult from their possession.
