Security forces carried out search operations and area domination activities in the fringe and vulnerable areas across the hill and valley districts, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure security and prevent insurgent activities.
During the operation, conducted in the foothill area of Mongjam under Heingang Police Station in Imphal East District, troops recovered one carbine, one SLR rifle, seven magazines, seventy-three live rounds, thirty-seven empty cases, and one Baofeng communication set along with its charger.
Officials stated that the cache appears to have been concealed for possible militant use. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the origin of the items and the individuals or groups involved.
