Security Forces Recover Huge Cache of Arms and Explosives in Joint Operation

In a major crackdown on illegal arms and militant activity, security forces conducted extensive search operations and area domination exercises across vulnerable and fringe areas in both hill and valley districts of Manipur.

During a coordinated operation at Samuchep Lok/Nala, located along the border of Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts under Loktak Police Station, Bishnupur District, the forces made a significant recovery of weapons and explosives.

The recovered items include two SLRs with two magazines, one SBBL gun, two improvised mortars, four No. 36 HE hand grenades, two locally made 9 mm pistols with two magazines, five 7.62 mm SLR live rounds, one .303 live round, and 30 live cartridges of 12 bore. In addition, forces recovered 31 empty cases of 7.62 mm SLR, six empty cases of .303, 22 empty cases of 5.56 mm INSAS, and seven empty cartridges of 12 bore.

The team also seized four locally made explosive shells, two mortar shells (local made), one tear smoke shell (normal), one tear smoke grenade, one stunt shell (normal), two bulletproof helmets, and one broken mobile phone.

Officials confirmed that the operation was part of a continuing effort to ensure peace and stability in sensitive regions. Further investigation is underway to trace the origin and intended use of the recovered materials.
