JUNE 15, 2026 (IMP): Sloganeering “No Treatment for Terrorists,” a large group of protesters thronged the RIMS Hospital in Imphal after three Kuki youths injured in a gunfight were admitted to the hospital.
Security forces, especially the RAF and CRPF, resorted to firing several tear gas shells and mock bombs inside the hospital near the Casualty ward to disperse the large crowd of protesters.
The three injured persons were brought by the AR after receiving initial treatment at a military hospital following a gunfight that occurred in Kangpokpi district.
Security has now been beefed up inside the RIMS Hospital campus, and State Police personnel have been deployed at the gate.
Meanwhile, leaders of the All Naga Students’ Union Manipur (ANSAM) have raised questions over the rationale behind the Indian security forces escorting the injured Kuki militants all the way from Kangpokpi for their treatment.
Nagas in Manipur are still unable to console their hearts after the spine-chilling recovery of the bodies of six Liangmai Nagas, whose bodies were allegedly chopped and dismembered by Kuki militants.
The three injured persons, who are now undergoing treatment at RIMS, have been identified as Genzenmang Veiphei (18) from Mission Veng, Paogouvial Chonglai (18) of P. Moulding village, and Lunliandan Veiphei (20).
This morning’s gunfight in Kangpokpi occurred between Langka Naga Village and Leilon Vaiphei Village.
