Feb 28, 2025: In a joint operation launched by state police and CRPF in response to a fresh gun attack at ‘Kongba Maru’ this morning, four Kuki militants have been arrested. They were reportedly operating under the command of KNF (P) leader Gogou Kipgen, alias Jamin.
The operation in the Kangpokpi area was carried out under the supervision of SP Kangpokpi and A/155 CRPF. The arrested individuals have been identified as Lungousem Kipgen (29), alias Seikhohao Kipgen of Phaijol Village (Kangchup), Letminlal Kipgen (25) from Ebenezer Village, Satminlun Tuboi (24) of Chalbung Village, and Thanggoulun Kilong (27) of Luwangsanggol Village, all from Kangpokpi District of Manipur.
The firing occurred at around 9:30 AM as devotees gathered at the Kongba Maru shrine for ritual performances under the watchful eye of central and state forces. Eyewitnesses reported that the militants fired 7-8 rounds indiscriminately, targeting the group of devotees.
This alarming act has intensified concerns over security in the region, prompting urgent calls for action from the local community. In response to the attack, residents have also urged the Governor to swiftly dismantle the bunkers of the Kuki militants, citing continuous threats to their safety.
