Assuring a fully secure winter harvest for the farmers ravaged by Manipur’s ethnic violence, the Security Forces have once again strengthened their guard with round-the-clock vigilance in the Waroiching area, a small village with 360 residents nestled in Imphal West, bordering Kangpokpi’s Kuki villages.
Villagers told this news that the return of displaced families became possible largely due to the steady and reassuring presence of security forces. Their unwavering vigilance has helped restore confidence, allowing life in Waroiching to slowly regain its rhythm.
Security checkpoints line up every few hundred meters. The Assam Rifles and CRPF units patrol the routes between Waroiching and New Keithelmanbi, and their presence instilled a sense of security and enabled villagers to resume daily routines—moving freely, reopening homes, and returning to their fields.
One of the clearest signs of renewed peace lies in the paddy fields. This year, farmers from both Meitei and Kuki communities worked their land without disturbance. Under the watchful guard of security forces, they cultivated and harvested together—sometimes in phases, sometimes at the same time—without tension or conflict.
The completion of this year’s paddy harvest stands as a quiet but powerful reminder of resilience. Despite last year’s hardships, the people of Waroiching have returned to their land, rebuilding their lives with dignity and cooperation.
