May 16, 2025 (DIO-IPR): As part of a nationwide civil defence preparedness exercise under the Civil Defence Rules, 1968, the District Administration of Senapati successfully conducted a mock drill under “Operation Abhyaas” at the Mini Secretariat Complex today.
The mock drill commenced at 10:30 AM in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Mamoni Doley, IAS, Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Kumar, IPS, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rang David Kung, MCS, CEO/ADC Adahrii Maheo, MCS, Project Director DRDA P. P. Ronald, MCS, Sub-Divisional Officers, DLOs, and security commanders from CRPF B/109 Bn., D/173 Bn., and 16 F Company, Assam Rifles.
Key activities in the drill included air raid sirens, police vehicle announcements, fire engine alerts, blackout simulations, search and rescue operations, casualty evacuation from simulated collapsed structures, emergency medical response via a temporary hospital setup, evacuation of civilians to designated bunkers, and civil defence safety training for the public.
The objective was to evaluate the district’s readiness in the event of a hostile attack and to ensure that civil defence protocols are well understood and implemented during emergency situations.
During the exercise, police and security personnel urged participants to remain calm and cooperative, stressing that the simulation was aimed at improving public safety awareness. Officials also demonstrated important techniques to stay safe during such emergencies.
The mock drill saw active participation from around 500 individuals, including personnel from the police, CRPF, Assam Rifles, Medical Department, MSPDCL, SDOs, DLOs, as well as volunteers from the Indian Red Cross Society, NSS of St. Xavier College, NCC of Mt. Everest College, NYK, and TNK youth.
