Sensitization Programme on Workplace Sexual Harassment Held in Imphal

A one-day sensitization programme on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 was held today at the Manipur State Transport Office Complex, Imphal. The programme was organized by the Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW).

MSCW Chairperson Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang emphasized the importance of mutual understanding in the workplace and encouraged the reporting of any harassment cases to the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). She stressed that awareness of women’s rights is key to ensuring safety and empowerment in workspaces.

During the technical session, Advocate Thiyam Rajkishore Singh explained the legal provisions of the Act, noting that sexual harassment can affect all genders and that strict action would be taken based on verified complaints.

Transport Director Nivedita Lairenlakpam highlighted the need to educate not only employees but also families on these issues. The event was also attended by MSCW Member Secretary W. Phajatombi Devi, MSCW members Lourembam Dayabati, and Sofia Mayon.
