DEC 24, 2025 (Agency): The India–Bangladesh international border in Assam’s Sribhumi district has been placed under renewed security after members of the Village Defence Party (VDP) intercepted seven Bangladeshi nationals at Manatoli village under the Mahishasan border area while crossing into Indian territory.
Reports say the individuals had crossed into Indian territory from the Deutali border area of Bangladesh before the VDP stopped them and later handed over the seven detainees to the Border Security Force and local police for verification and further legal action.
Reports further added that authorities had earlier, on December 19, deported the same group, but they allegedly re-entered Indian territory, raising concerns over repeated breaches along the border stretch.
