Imphal, January 22, 2025 : A devastating fire completely destroyed a seven-bedroom house belonging to one Lungaingam Gonmei, aged 64, of Pongringlong Part-2 village, under the jurisdiction of New Keithelmanbi Police Station in Kangpokpi District.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:10 AM this morning while the family members were working in the fields.
It is suspected that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. The house, which was partially constructed with RCC and wood, was valued at over ₹15 lakh, according to family sources.
Upon discovering the blaze, villagers, along with residents from neighbouring areas, swiftly arrived at the scene and managed to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent properties. Despite their efforts, the house was completely destroyed.
Police are investigating the cause of the fire, and the Gonmei family is receiving support from the community during this difficult time.
