Sharad Agarwal, IPS, has officially assumed charge as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Mizoram. The formal handover ceremony took place this evening at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Khatla, Aizawl, in the presence of senior police officers and top officials of the Mizoram Police.
A 1997-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, Sharad Agarwal has been appointed by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, succeeding outgoing DGP Anil Shukla. Prior to this posting, he served as the Special Commissioner of the Economic Offences Wing, Delhi Police.
Known for his strategic leadership and expertise in technology-driven policing, Agarwal brings with him extensive experience from various postings across Delhi and other Union Territories. His tenure is expected to focus on strengthening internal security, enhancing public-police coordination, and modernizing law enforcement mechanisms in the state.
Upon assuming office, the new DGP was welcomed by senior police officials.
