Shija Hospitals & Research Institute observed World Health Day 2025 with special programs highlighting maternal and community health. This year’s theme, “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” guided the day’s events.
An awareness program on maternal and newborn care was held at the Shija Auditorium, attended by around 100 participants, including Shija caregivers and ASHA workers from across Imphal. The event was also streamed live on Facebook to reach a wider audience.
Dr. Dipenty L, Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist, presented important data on maternal mortality in India and Manipur, pointing out major causes and challenges. Dr. Kharibam Paikhomba, Head of Obstetrics & Gynecology at SAHS, emphasized the key role of ASHA workers and the need for continued training to improve community-level healthcare.
At the same time, a free health camp was held at Shija City Dental Hospital in Kakching, offering consultations in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, ENT, Orthopaedics, Dermatology, and Ophthalmology. Over 350 people benefited from the services.
