The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Manipur has issued a show cause notice to the ‘People’s Resurgence and Justice Alliance’ (PRAJA) and the ‘Manipur National Democratic Front’ (MNDF) following the Election Commission of India (ECI) exercise to delist Registered Unrecognized Political Parties (RUPPs).
According to the CEO notice, PRAJA and MNDF were registered as political parties, but they did not set up any candidate in any of the elections held, either to the House of the People or to any State Legislative Assembly or bye-elections, for the last six years since 2019.
The CEO notice also stated that appropriate action will be taken without any further communication if both parties fail to make a written representation, duly accompanied by an affidavit from the President or the General Secretary of the party, by August 29. The date of hearing for the parties has been scheduled on September 1, 2025, at 15:00 hours in the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur.
