Thoubal, April 12 : The Wangjing Gram Panchayat Apunba Club Organisation (WANGGPACO), Wangjing, organised a sit-in protest and public discussion at Wangjing Lakpa Iningthou Sanglen on Sunday to condemn the Tronglaobi bombing and the subsequent deaths of protesters.
Participants at the sit-in carried placards reading: “Security forces meant to protect civilians should not kill civilians,” “Let justice be served for every child,” “We condemn violation of children’s rights,” “Protect child rights,” and “Immediately withdraw security forces that shelter terrorism in Manipur.”
The public discussion was addressed by COCOMI Convenor N. Santa, former FOCS President Th. Manihar, and Imagi Meira President Mother Sujata, among others.
COCOMI Convenor N. Santa said that, given the present situation in the state, it has become necessary to form a committee of legal practitioners.
WANGGPACO General Secretary Naorem Iboyaima said that Central forces that are supposed to protect the people of India are instead turning against and killing civilians in Manipur. This raises serious suspicion whether the Government of India is colluding with Kuki illegal migrants to eliminate Meiteis. Because the situation has reached a point where the public must know the truth, today’s discussion and the condemnation of the tragic Tronglaobi incident were organised.
WANGGPACO President Laishram Manichandra said that it is very painful that the Prime Minister of this country has not uttered a single word on the recent killing of two children by Kuki narco militants. Regarding the naked parade incident, the Prime Minister had earlier spoken of capital punishment, and many Meiteis are now in jail. But why was there silence when women and children were killed by Kuki militants in Jiribam, and why were MLAs silent then, he asked. At that time, Meira Paibis were raising their voices for justice.
