Feb. 2, 2025: Nongpok Kakching Meira Paibi Ema Lup and Bright Star Union Club Nongpok Kakching of Lamlai constituency, Imphal East, organized a sit-in protest today at Nongpok Kakching Ibudhou Khamlangba Lai Lampak.
The demonstration was held in protest against the alleged killing of a village volunteer and the arrest of six others by Manipur Police Commando on December 14 near Salungfam School in Thoubal district.
Protesters condemned the alleged excesses committed by the security forces and demanded justice for the victims. Banners and placards were displayed, calling for accountability and an end to such actions.
Similar sit-in protests continue to be staged across various locations, spearheaded by different organizations, local clubs, and Meira Paibis, condemning the killing and arrests of village volunteers. The protesters urged authorities to take necessary steps to ensure justice and prevent further incidents of violence.
