Thoubal, April 9 : The Athokpam Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (AMPAL), Thoubal Athokpam, staged a sit-in protest at Athokpam market on Thursday to condemn the recent bomb attack in Tronglaobi and the subsequent injuries to civilians.
Protesters held placards bearing messages including “Stop killing innocent people,” “We want justice,” “We want NRC,” and “Stop killing innocent children.”
Speaking at the protest, AMPAL President Kh. Kripa asked what the present government is doing. She said that in Meitei-inhabited areas, tragic incidents continue. Meiteis are being killed at will by Kuki narco terrorists, like fish trapped in a net. At the same time, security forces arrested Meiteis without any cause. Can the government remain a silent spectator to such acts, she asked.
She further stated that, as a government elected by the people, the CM must ensure citizens can live without fear. If the CM cannot govern for the people, all leaders should resign, return the Merger Agreement, and let the people defend themselves.
