In a shocking case that has left the city reeling, a 39-year-old man has been arrested in Hauz Qazi, central Delhi, for allegedly raping his 65-year-old mother on two separate occasions within a span of just three days.
Police reports state that the first incident occurred on August 11, when the man locked his mother inside a room, forced her to remove her burqa, beat her, and then raped her, all the while claiming that he was punishing her for her past behaviour.
Terrified and traumatised, the woman fled to her elder daughter’s residence in an attempt to seek refuge but later returned home.
On August 14, however, she was once again subjected to a brutal sexual assault by her son.
The survivor has alleged that her son, who is a graduate but unemployed, had long accused her of being of “bad character.”
His suspicions intensified after she returned from a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, and it was on this pretext that he carried out the assaults.
Following her complaint, police swiftly registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and arrested the accused.
