Kakching, Dec 19: An environmental awareness programme focusing on cleanliness was organised on Friday by the Eco Club of Padma Ratana English School, Kakching.
As part of the programme, a road cleaning drive was carried out at important locations in Kakching district, including the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Kakching, the Deputy Commissioner’s complex, and DC Road. Plastic waste and other non-biodegradable materials were collected during the drive.
Speaking on the occasion, Teacher-in-Charge of the Eco Club, Naorem Ibosana, said the club regularly conducts awareness campaigns, cleanliness drives, and green initiatives at public places across Manipur to promote environmental conservation.
He added that the present drive aimed to encourage cleanliness around key administrative offices in Kakching district and inspire public participation in maintaining a clean and plastic-free environment.
Superintendent of Police, Kakching, Priyadarshini Laishram, IPS, who attended the programme, interacted with the students and appreciated their initiative. She encouraged them to continue engaging in such constructive activities.
The programme was attended by school Principal Thokchom Jiten, teaching and non-teaching staff, Eco Club students, and district police personnel.
