The Superintendent of Police, Thoubal district, has ordered disciplinary action against two Village Defence Force (VDF) personnel posted at Babu Bazar after they were reportedly found heavily intoxicated while on duty on December 2.
According to the order issued by SP Manoj Prabhakar M., both the VDF personnel were unable to perform their duties due to intoxication.
The SP noted that such conduct was unacceptable, especially for personnel deployed in a sensitive area along the National Highway.
As penalty, the SP ordered stoppage of their remuneration for 30 days.
Additionally, both personnel have been shifted from Babu Bazar Post and redeployed at the District Headquarters (DHQ), Thoubal, with immediate effect until further orders.
