Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata, accompanied by a group of MLAs, visited the residence of martyred BSF Constable Deepak Chingakham at Yairipok Yambem Mathak Leikai in Imphal East on Thursday to offer condolences and pay homage to the young soldier.
Constable Deepak Chingakham (25), a native of the locality, succumbed to injuries sustained during cross-border firing in the RS Pura Sector of Jammu on May 10 and passed away the next day, May 11. He had joined the Border Security Force in April 2021 and was the sole breadwinner of his family.
A two-minute silence was observed in honor of his sacrifice. The Speaker and MLAs assured the bereaved family that once normal governance is restored, the government will extend all possible assistance and support. Monetary aid was also handed over to the martyr’s father as a gesture of solidarity.
The MLAs who accompanied the Speaker included Tongbram Robindro Singh (Thanga AC), Lourembam Rameshwor (Keirao AC), Paonam Brojen (Wangjing AC), Sapam Nishikanta (Keishamthong AC), Khuraijam Loken Singh (Wangoi AC), Kongkham Robindro Singh (Mayang Imphal AC), Shiek Noor Hasan (Kshetrigao AC), and Yumnam Radheshyam (Hiyanglam AC).
