March 25, 2025 : In a crackdown against the illegal liquor trade, a team of Special Commandos led by Subedar L. Bebekananda Singh seized a significant quantity of Indian-made cane beer in Imphal East District today.
At around 4 PM, during a routine frisking and checking operation around Imphal East and West areas, the team intercepted a Suzuki Petro Super Carry vehicle near Khurai Heikru Makhong, Imphal East.
Upon inspection, the team discovered 480 cans of Budweiser Premium cane beer hidden in the vehicle. The vehicle, registered as MN06P-2187, was seized along with the detained driver, identified as Loitongbam Naotonba Singh, aged 25 years, a resident of Sagolband Salam Leikai.
The excise team was notified, and the seized items, along with the apprehended individual, were handed over to the Excise Department through Heingang Police Station for further action.
The operation highlights the continued vigilance of the Special CDO in tackling illegal activities in the region.
The authorities are investigating the source of the contraband, focusing on disrupting the illegal alcohol trade in the state.
