Feb 25, 2025: Recognizing the dedication of sportspersons and elevating their status further, Manipur, the powerhouse of sports, marked ‘Shanroishingee Numit’ (Players’ Day) with a grand celebration at the ‘Khuman Lampak’ Indoor Stadium, organized by the Youth Affairs and Sports Department on Tuesday.
The Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, graced and led the event, recognizing veteran athletes and honouring the winners of the recently concluded 38th National Games 2025 in Uttarakhand.
Addressing the event, the Manipur Governor commended the athletes for their dedication and hard work, emphasizing that success is not just about winning medals but about perseverance and courage. “Life is full of ups and downs. What defines you is not the number of medals you win, but the courage you show to the world,” he remarked, encouraging those who did not secure victories to continue striving for excellence.
The Governor also highlighted the “One Playground, One Village” initiative, aimed at promoting sports infrastructure across the state. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing world-class sports facilities in Manipur, which has earned a reputation as India’s sports hub. The event, organized by the Youth Affairs and Sports Department, Government of Manipur, also featured a demonstration by Wushu players, showcasing the state’s diverse sporting talent.
With Manipur consistently producing top-tier athletes at both national and international levels, the celebration of ‘Shanroishingee Numit’ reaffirmed the state’s dedication to nurturing its sporting legacy.
