THOUBAL, June 12 : Under the aegis of the Manipur State Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority, Thoubal, and Legal Aid Clinic, Kiyam Leitanpok, jointly organized an Inter-School Spot Painting Competition on the theme “Stop Child Labour” for students from Class 8 to 10 at Evergreen Flowers’ School, Thoubal Ningombam on Friday.
A total of 78 students from different schools participated in the competition. The first, second, and third place winners, along with students placed 4th to 8th, received cash prizes and certificates as consolation prizes. Participation certificates were also distributed to all other participants.
In the competition, Raina Wakongthem of Class X, Evergreen Flowers’ School, Thoubal Ningombam secured first place. Aditi Thingujam, Class X, Evergreen Flowers’ School took second place, and Ningthoujam Nongpoknganba Meitei, Class X, Evergreen Flowers’ School secured third place.
Speaking during the event, Thingujam Arunkumar Singh, Coordinator, Legal Aid Clinic, Kiyam Leitanpok, said that June 12 is observed worldwide every year as the World Day Against Child Labour. As part of the observance, the Spot Painting Competition was held under the theme “Red Card to Child Labour: Fair Play for Children, Decent Work for Adults.”
He said the competition was organized to raise awareness among the younger generation and to encourage students from all sections to showcase their talents and knowledge toward making society child labour free. The event, he added, helped enhance students’ creativity and skills while deepening their understanding of the issue of child labour.
