Sept 10, 2026 (Imphal): A total of 2,720 vacant government posts are mooted to be filled up by the government this year, as per the Cabinet decision approved on Thursday.

The Cabinet approval includes various cadres of Manipur Police, including Sub-Inspector, Assistant Sub-Inspector, Constable, Havildar, Rifleman, Follower, and technical and ministerial posts such as Telecom, Nursing, Pharmacist, Lower Division Clerk, and Constable Driver.

And to expedite recruitment, the Cabinet also approved exemption from recruitment through the Manipur Public Service Commission for Sub-Inspector/Jemadar-level posts and through the Manipur Staff Selection Commission for Assistant Sub-Inspector and other remaining posts, enabling their recruitment departmentally.

And a one-time relaxation of the upper age limit will be extended to candidates who had already applied under earlier notifications. Vacancies will be filled strictly as per the 200-point roster, excluding 20% horizontal reservation for ex-Agniveers and 5% for meritorious sportspersons to be notified separately.

Meanwhile, pertaining to the land acquisition for the approach road to Khongsang Railway Station, the Cabinet has approved the assessment report of the Direct Purchase Committee (DPC) for the acquisition of land, standing crops/trees, and structures through direct purchase mode, for the construction of an approach road-cum-goods circulation area at Khongsang Railway Station connecting to NH-37.

The approximately 500-metre stretch was earlier declared an emergent work to enable movement of goods-laden trucks from the railway station, and the government had decided to open this alternative route to ensure an uninterrupted supply of goods and essential commodities to the public.
