JAN 7, 2026 (IMP): The Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR), led by its Chairperson Keisam Pradipkumar, conducted a joint field inquiry, taking due cognizance of the case pertaining to the physical assault of an 11-year-old minor in the Heirok area of Thoubal District on January 5, arising out of a dispute between two families of the same clan.
The child was observed to be in a state of acute distress, necessitating immediate medical attention and psycho-social intervention, according to the commission. Treating the incident as a grave violation of child rights, the commission also directed the District Administration and the Superintendent of Police, Thoubal, the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Thoubal, to ensure the child’s immediate safety, protection, care, and rehabilitation.
The commission also asked the concerned Police Station and the Special Juvenile Police Unit (SJPU) to register a case/FIR without delay under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, and other relevant laws, strictly adhering to child-friendly procedures.
The commission reiterated to all police stations in the State that cases involving violence, abuse, or assault against minors must be registered promptly, in accordance with the nature and gravity of the offence. Violence against children will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
