The State Police, assisting the central forces in Manipur, have implemented enhanced security protocols to ensure the safety of farmers engaged in ongoing farming and cultivation activities in key vulnerable areas across both the valley and hill regions of the state.
Central forces have also been redeployed in the vicinity of Phubala areas of Bishnupur District, where a farmer was earlier hit by a bullet on June 19, allegedly fired from Kuki-inhabited areas. Flying squads and Quick Response Teams (QRT) have been set up by the administration for immediate assistance in case of any emergency.
Alert messages have been issued to all District Superintendents of Police (SSP) of Manipur Police from Police Headquarters, instructing them to immediately implement the enhanced security protocols for ongoing agricultural activities.
Earlier, on June 28, a Combined Headquarters (CHQ) meeting was held, chaired by the Security Advisor, along with the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police, to review security arrangements related to farming, enhance coordination, and prevent incidents similar to the one that occurred recently in Phubala, Bishnupur District.
The public, particularly farmers, are also appealed to remain vigilant and to promptly inform local police or security forces before proceeding with farming activities in vulnerable or sensitive areas.
