Feb 10, 2025 (IMP): The Government of Manipur is giving high priority to restoring normalcy in Litan of Manipur’s Ukhrul district, and Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho on Tuesday said concerted efforts are being made by the state government, security forces, and civil society organisations.
The government is engaging with all stakeholders, and necessary measures are being taken to prevent further escalation. The Chief Minister and security agencies are closely monitoring developments on the ground, Deputy CM Dikho informed on the sidelines of a felicitation programme organised by the Naga People’s Front (NPF) at Hotel Imphal this afternoon.
Referring to the fresh incidents reported on Monday, the Deputy CM said the situation could not be immediately brought under control due to the sudden outbreak of violence, including incidents of arson and firing, which led to confusion and unrest in the area. He said the situation has since become clearer and expressed confidence that tensions would ease as coordinated efforts continue.
The Deputy Chief Minister also said that the Chief Minister is planning to visit the affected area and hold discussions with local stakeholders. Following the violence, authorities imposed a curfew and suspended internet services for five days from Monday as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.
