In an effort to create a digitally empowered society and services, the state government has introduced Digital Driving Licenses (eDL) and Digital Registration Certificates (eRC) for vehicles, which will be effective from 1st August 2025.
Within the State of Manipur, the validation of documents of motor vehicles in electronic form shall be complied with by the enforcement authorities as per the SOP issued by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, as reiterated by the Directorate of Transport, Manipur. No Enforcement Officer shall insist on the production of a physical copy, according to a notification issued today by the State Transport Department.
The Director (Transport), Manipur, shall take all steps for the smooth implementation of eDL and eRC. The printing of smart cards (driving licenses and registration certificates) shall also be stopped with effect from 18th July 2025.
