The Government of Manipur on January 21 launched the State-level Birth Registration Based Aadhaar Enrolment (BRBAE) service at Lok Bhavan, Imphal, aimed at simplifying Aadhaar enrolment for young children and strengthening access to essential government services.
Under the new system, Aadhaar enrolment for children aged 0 to below 5 years will be carried out by linking the Aadhaar registration process with the child’s birth registration number available in the Civil Registration System. The enrolment will be facilitated through the Child Enrolment Lite Client mobile application, ensuring a seamless and efficient process.
The initiative is expected to improve transparency and efficiency in birth certification and Aadhaar enrolment. In the initial phase, 23 health facilities under the Directorate of Health Services, Manipur, will be made operational after UIDAI sanctioned 23 CELC kits. Altogether, 31 health facilities across the state have been identified for the rollout of the BRBAE service.
The launch is seen as a significant step towards establishing early identity for children and enhancing the delivery of citizen-centric services in the state.
