State-Level Teachers’ Day 2025 Observed in Manipur

National and State Awardees Felicitated at City Convention Centre, Imphal

Imphal, September 5, 2025 — The State Government of Manipur observed Teachers’ Day 2025 with a state-level celebration at the City Convention Centre, Palace Compound. The programme was jointly organised by the Department of Education (Schools), Higher and Technical Education, SCERT, and Adult Education.

Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, who attended as Chief Guest, described teachers as mentors of character, compassion, and courage. He noted that in a society with limited economic and educational opportunities, the role of teachers becomes even more crucial, adding that their creativity and ability to inspire students leaves a lasting impact. Referring to the National Education Policy 2020, he said that the policy envisions an India where education empowers young people to compete globally while also thinking ethically, creatively, and sustainably. “To realize this vision, we look to our teachers for guidance and commitment,” he remarked.

As part of the celebration, Arts Graduate Teacher Macha Sana of Ghari Upper Primary School was congratulated for receiving the National Teachers’ Award 2025 from the President of India. The state government also conferred the State Teachers’ Award 2025 on eight outstanding teachers representing schools across Manipur. In addition, eight colleges, including Standard College, Waikhom Mani Girls’ College, Manipur College, Kamakhya Pemton College, Don Bosco College (Maram), Kha Manipur College, Imphal College, and Kakching Khunou College, were honoured with the Manipur State Award for Educational Excellence 2025.

The celebration not only recognised the dedication of educators at different levels but also reinforced the government’s call for collective efforts to strengthen the education sector in the state.
