State Sepaktakraw Players Head to Sonepat for National Camp

Training programme focuses on Asian Games and international championships

A group of selected Sepaktakraw players from Manipur left the state on January 27 to participate in the National Coaching Camp being held at the Sports Authority of India’s NRC-Sonepat centre in Haryana. The camp will continue until February 20, 2026.

Organised with the approval of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Sports Authority of India, the camp forms part of the country’s long-term preparation for the Asian Games 2026 and other upcoming international tournaments.

Representing Manipur in the camp are men players Mayengbam Ashok, Kh. Holendro Singh and S. Malemganba Singh, along with women players Oinam Chaoba Devi, Kh. Daina Devi, K. Poni Devi and Mayengbam Jeny Chanu. The team is being guided by coach P. Durjit Singh.

According to STFI Secretary General Naresh Kumar, the national coaching camp is a crucial platform for improving performance standards and building a strong Indian Sepaktakraw team for future international competitions.
