The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) has expressed strong condemnation and appealed to the state law enforcement agencies for swift action and justice in the death of 67-year-old retired physiotherapist Angom Ningol Asem Ongbi Rita from Yaiskul Chingakham Leirak, Imphal, who was found dead at her residence on the afternoon of October 13.

MSCW Chairperson Th. Tiningpham Monsang observed that violence of this nature is barbaric and has no place in society, calling on all citizens to join in condemning the atrocity. She also appealed to the women of the state to remain vigilant against crimes targeting women and to support initiatives promoting awareness, prevention, and intervention.

It may be mentioned that the body of the 67-year-old retired physiotherapist was discovered lying on the floor with splashes of blood on the second floor of her residence while her family members were away and she was alone at home.

The Commission also appealed to the authorities to ensure that the perpetrator is brought to justice and urged swift and decisive action to deter such acts in the future.
