The District Health Society, Kamjong, organized a programme on stress management under the National Mental Health Programme, alongside TB awareness initiatives, at Awuntang today. The event was attended by SDC Kamjong District Hanyo Luke Rungsung and CMO Dr. P. S. Leishiwon.
Addressing the gathering, Hanyo Luke Rungsung highlighted the importance of understanding mental stress, its causes, and practical ways to manage it, including mindfulness, relaxation, physical well-being, time management, cognitive techniques, and social support. He emphasized that mental well-being is integral to overall health, particularly in managing conditions like tuberculosis.
On TB awareness, he stressed early detection, timely treatment, and combating stigma and misinformation. Dr. P. S. Leishiwon underlined the social challenges faced by TB patients and highlighted free government services that support early intervention. She also noted that effective stress management and proactive health-seeking behavior are essential for building a healthier community.
The programme saw active participation from health officials, community leaders, students, and local residents, reflecting widespread engagement with mental health and TB awareness initiatives in the district.
