Feb 24, 2025: The student union leaders of Standard College, Kongba in Imphal East, have locked the college’s administrative rooms and principal’s office in protest against the transfer of the college’s principal and the appointment of a new principal as a replacement, who is set to retire in four months.
The students of the college informed that they have been demanding the revocation of the transfer order for their principal, Dr. L. Basanti, to the Higher and Technical Education Department. Instead, the authorities have sent a new principal-in-charge, who will retire after a four-month period.
The student union demanded that the transfer order be revoked and that the former college principal be retained. They informed that their principal would soon retire in December this year and, therefore, asked the authorities to retain her. The students also said they would accept any new principal after that.
