Feb 23, 2025: “Students living in a conflict state need to shoulder both the responsibilities of carrying the school bags on one side and the duty of the native land on the other side of the shoulder, and both study and struggle should go on side by side,” the Secretary General of the All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) stated during the Freshers’ Meet of the Manipur Students’ Association Delhi (MSAD) held at Lajpat Bhawan Auditorium, New Delhi, on Saturday.
The 53rd Freshers’ Meet cum Gathering of the MSAD was attended by Prof. Somendro, Department of Physics and Astrophysics, Delhi University, as the Chief Guest, and other guests of honour included AMSU Secretary General Pebam Bruce; President of the Ningols Progressive Initiatives, Longjam Ranjana; Former MSAD President Dr. Seram Rojesh, and AMSU External Affairs Secretary Sanachand Thingbaijam as special guests.
The program witnessed a large number of students from Manipur in Delhi, with events ranging from extravagant cultural dances, Mr. & Miss Fresher, and musical performances by the student community.
“The current political vacuum can only be filled with the new generation equipped with knowledge and education. The current situation of Manipur, like a community living on the verge of extinction, is due to the fact that after the merger with the Indian Union, all the indispensable historical and political rights were not reflected or added in the newly formulated Indian Constitution and have failed to reserve a distinctive seat for its rights and privileges,” stated the AMSU General Secretary during the event.
He further emphasized that it is high time for an immediate political dialogue with the Government of India and Manipur to determine the future destiny of Manipur. He added that all students should pursue their chosen courses or career options with a long-term vision and a sense of patriotism for the future ahead.
With the facilitation of freshers and interactive sessions, the event brought students under one roof of learning and unity for the journey ahead.
